AVL Acquires Majority Stake in qpunkt

Global AVL Group announces further expansion

AVL List GmbH, a high-tech company with operations around the world, is acquiring a 
75-percent stake in qpunkt GmbH. The company, based in Hart near Graz, which specializes in thermal management, fluid dynamics and acoustics, will expand AVL's broad range of development services even further.

CEO Prof. Helmut List: "We see this as a move toward expanding and strengthening AVL's comprehensive expertise. It provides us with an excellent range of know-how – primarily in the area of thermal management in the overall vehicle. By adding such a youthful company to our Group, we are able to offer our customers all over the world an even greater variety of innovative, technical solutions."

Ing. Robert Breinl, Managing Director of qpunkt: "qpunkt's greatest strength is in solving problems in the field of thermal engineering by applying physical and virtual methods. With our integrated concept and the necessary measuring equipment, we are a perfect fit for the AVL Group. Our expertise complements its portfolio nicely. qpunkt was founded in 2008 and has around 100 employees. Besides its headquarters in Hart near Graz, qpunkt has branches in Wolfsburg, Ingolstadt, Munich and Stuttgart. Its business activities focus mainly on thermal management, fluid simulation and acoustics for the automotive industry. The company also operates in the areas aerospace, rail and Green Energy.

AVL is the world's largest independent company for development, simulation and testing technology of powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines.
