While much of the development process is frontloaded to the testbed, simulations or both, a big portion of testing activities still takes place in the vehicle. With the growing number of new technologies such as hybridization and electrification bringing additional complexity, as well as legislative demands becoming more and more stringent, testing efforts for in-vehicle activities increase vastly. Verification and validation are still required to prove that the customer relevant functions are available under all operating conditions, and that the relevant targets are fulfilled.
