4th International Symposium on Development Methodology

The International Symposium on Development Methodology has established itself as the central meeting place for engineers and management executives in drive development and will be back again in 2011 at the Wiesbaden Kurhaus, the inspirational venue for information and discussion at the highest level. In these traditional surroundings we will be confronted with a fundamental change in the drive discussions – because from today's viewpoint there is no way around the electrification topic.

The 4th International Symposium on Development Methodology takes up the challenge to close the gap between traditional drives and electrification. Although the subjects of electrification and hybridisation were taken into account at the last event, this time the focus will be intensified. We want to consider the whole spectrum, from further developments in combustion engines to electrical drives and all the associated components.

It is obvious that the development of methodology to increase driving range is of particular importance. But what are the priorities? Which methods enable differentiation in the market, shorter development time, secure concept decisions, balance between flexibility and costs and last but not least, the application of complex of integrated systems, as found in hybrid drives?

The high profile automotive industry program advisory board has overseen the program preparation and ensure the attendance of renowned speakers and cutting edge contributions. Therefore, like during the last symposium, we expect first hand information from Audi, BMW, Continental Automotive, Daimler, Ford UK, GM, Getrag, Honda Japan, Mahindra, Porsche, Steyr Motors,VW, ZF and well known engineering companies and universities. It will be exciting to hear which improvements have been achieved, for example, in the area of combining simulation and tests, development of ”in-the-loop-operation” and the systematic optimisation of brand new methods in business processes.

No one can say for sure which technologies will prevail in the medium and long term but methodology in any case is the key to success, perhaps the decisive enabler in order to secure advantage in international competition. We therefore expect an even wider circle of participants, and kindly ask you to make an appointment for the 8th and 9th November 2011 in the Wiesbaden Kurhaus.
